Background:
Mirershorai EZ located on the eastern Bay of Bengal with an area of 550 acres of land. It is surrounded by the coast on the west and Mirershorai town on the east. Almost three-quarters of the land earmarked for this EZ is Khash land. It is a large green-field EZ project. BEZA has planned to establish significant infrastructure connectivity to the proposed site mostly to attract foreign direct investment (FDI).

An analysis carried out by BEZA suggests that the Mirershorai EZ will be competitive with similar special economic zone/industrial park (SEZ/IP) in Asian countries in term of basic infrastructure, workers’ wages and land prices. The market strategy provides for targeting ready-made garments and firms producing labor-intensive machine parts and components during the first phase of development, the automobile assembly industries in second phase and finally machine parts and components for the third phase.

BEZA has conducted a preliminary feasibility study where the project cost has been estimated primarily to be about $ 50 million. The project has good commercial and economic viability.
