Background: |
Bangladesh has nearly 20 million people suffering from various kidney and urological problems. Every year 15-20,000 patients develop Acute Renal Failure, 70% of those can be treated by dialysis therapy and further 18-20,000 patients are developing End Stage Renal Diseases. In the Chittagong area alone around 3 million people estimated to be suffering from suffering from Chronic Kidney Diseases.
Chittagong Medical College Hospital is the only tertiary medical college hospital in southern part of Bangladesh. It is the only government run hemodialysis unit in Chittagong with provision of only 9 haemodialysis beds. However these facilities are not adequate to meet significant demand for provision of dialysis to patients suffering from kidney diseases.

Objective: |
To increase public access to dialysis and improve the quality of dialysis services on an affordable basis by upgrading and refreshing the facilities and treatment offered for dialysis therapy. |
Project Scope: |
Establishment of a 40 station Dialysis Centre that will be provided within the existing or adjacent facilities. It is expected that the private operator will procure, install, upgrade, maintain and operate the facilities and the equipments.

Status: |
In the operational stage, represents a significant milestone in the journey towards realizing the objectives set forth by the CCEA approval in principle on 01 January 2012. The signing of the contract with Sandor Dialysis Services Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd. on 27 January 2015 signals the transition from planning to action, marking the beginning of a partnership aimed at delivering quality dialysis services to the populace.
