Background:
Purbachal project area is outside the reach of Dhaka WASA. In view of the lack of access to Dhaka WASA and with the aim of developing Purbachal as a modern, healthy and clean city, RAJUK has taken the initiative to establish Sewerage Network and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) under its own jurisdiction through PPP modality.
Project Scope:

•  Assess the existing wastewater management context and establish a broad road map and/or strategy for safe collection, conveyance and disposal of wastewater and determine safe site(s) for collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater as well as discharge of fecal sludge

•  Promote overall public infrastructures, i.e., Sewerage Network and Sewage Treatment Plant for wastewater management to treat the wastewater generated by the Purbachal New Town Project

•  Establish a network of sewerage pipelines to collect and transport the wastewater to the treatment plant

•  Develop a comprehensive plan for the efficient and sustainable operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and sewerage pipelines

•  Implement an effective system for monitoring and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards

•  Promote social and economic development by providing essential services such as potable water, sewage treatment, and associated infrastructure to support residential, commercial, administrative, educational, and social activities in Purbachal New Town.
Status:
The project is in development phase. A reminder letter has been sent on 05/02/2024 for form Project delivery team, development of ToR and PPPTAF form.
